IzoVar Queen Brood-Stop Cage according to Dr. Olszewski

NEW to our product range

Product Description

The Queen Breeding Stop Cage according to Dr. Olszewski was developed in collaboration with Prof. Dr. Krzysztof Olszewski specifically for biotechnical Varroa control. By controlling the queen’s isolation in the brood chamber, the cage enables a targeted brood break, interrupts the Varroa mite’s life cycle, and thus sustainably reduces Varroa pressure in the colony.

The queen remains in the colony during isolation, continues to be cared for by the worker bees, and can resume laying without any loss of productivity after release. At the same time, the effectiveness of treatments during the brood-free phase can be significantly improved, and the use of chemical varroacides can be reduced.

The cage is mounted and secured directly in the brood chamber on a suitable comb. The queen is placed inside the isolator, which interrupts brood production for a defined period. During this brood-free phase, Varroa mites are concentrated on the bees and can be controlled particularly efficiently with appropriate measures.

Special Features of the Queen Brood Stop Cage

  • Developed with Prof. Dr. Krzysztof Olszewski for biotechnological Varroa control
  • Controlled isolation of the queen to induce a targeted brood pause
  • Interrupts the Varroa mite’s life cycle and reduces Varroa infestation
  • Improves the effectiveness of treatments during the brood-free phase
  • Reduces the use of chemical varroacides
  • Easy to install in the brood chamber; suitable for many hive systems
  • Durable, reusable, and designed for long-term use

Advantages of the Universal Queen Brood Stop Cage

  • Time-saving: Once installed, the cage can remain in the hive year-round
  • Suitable for year-round use: spring, summer, fall, and winter insulation
  • Gentle Varroa reduction through targeted brood interruption instead of continuous chemical treatment
  • Stable queen performance, as care conditions inside the cage remain optimal
  • Minimal disturbance to the colony thanks to simple and safe release of the queen
  • Sustainable beekeeping through reduced use of chemical varroacides

Conclusion on the Universal Queen Brood Stop Cage

The Universal Queen Brood Stop Cage combines sophisticated biotechnology, practical handling, and a sustainable Varroa strategy. The collaboration with Prof. Dr. Krzysztof Olszewski, the targeted brood pause, and the ability to perform treatments during a brood-free phase make this isolator a powerful tool for modern beekeeping operations.

Use the Universal Queen Brood Stop Cage to efficiently reduce Varroa, relieve stress on your colonies, and minimize the use of chemical treatments at the same time.

Holtermann Practical Tip: Use the Universal Queen Brood Stop Cage so that the end of the brood break coincides exactly with a scheduled residual miticide treatment. During this brood-free phase, you’ll achieve particularly high treatment efficiency, noticeably reduce Varroa pressure, and at the same time protect both the bees and the combs.
