EWG® frame isolation cage Maxi galvanized

Product description

The EWG® frame isolation cage Maxi galvanized is a high-quality tool for beekeepers who want to protect their bee colonies from the Varroa mite gently, sustainably and, if possible, without medication. It enables the targeted use of the ban honeycomb method, an extremely effective method for controlling the brood and reducing mite infestation. Sturdy grid construction made of galvanized steel with optimum dimensions.

Effective brood control for a healthier bee colony

In this method, one or two empty combs are inserted into the frame isolation cage and the queen is enclosed in it for a limited period of time. This concentrates the entire brood on a few combs, which makes the Varroa mites more vulnerable.
Every 7 to 9 days, the occupied combs are replaced with fresh empty combs - up to four rounds in total. After completion, an optional residual mite removal with oxalic acid or lactic acid is available to effectively remove any remaining mites.

Versatile - not just for Varroa control

The frame isolation cage offers beekeepers several practical applications:

  • Ban honeycomb process: for natural varroa reduction
  • Renewal of old brood combs: without stress for the colony
  • Reduction of brood: during the Honey Harvest
  • Swarm prevention: through targeted control of egg laying
