Drip application

The application of the drench should be carried out on the brood-free colony in the fall/winter as a single treatment at temperatures above 4 °C.

Preparation of the ready-to-use 3.5 % (m/V) oxalic acid dihydrate sugar solution.
The container with the oxalic acid dihydrate solution is heated in a lukewarm water bath (30 - 35 °C). Remove from the water bath and open the sealed container. Weigh and add the required amount of sugar (sucrose), as used for feeding the bees:
- 222 g when using the 500 ml bottle with 230 ml concentrate, ready-to-use solution = 367 ml
- 443 g when using the 1 liter bottle with 460 ml concentrate, ready-to-use solution = 738 ml

Close the bottle tightly and shake vigorously until the sugar is completely dissolved. The solution is now ready to use and should be drizzled on lukewarm.

Application
Pour the required quantity of the ready-to-use oxalic acid dihydrate sugar solution into a syringe and drizzle onto the bees in the comb galleries from above.
The recommended dose in relation to the comb area is 0.275 ml/dm². For the most commonly used hive types, this corresponds to the following quantities of ready-to-use oxalic acid dihydrate sugar solution:

A maximum of 50 ml of the ready-to-use oxalic acid dihydrate sugar solution should be used per hive.

For two-frame hives, first spray the lower frame and then the upper frame.

Spray application

The spray application should be carried out on the brood-free colony as a single treatment at temperatures above 4 °C. It is usually carried out in the fall/winter.
A treatment in spring/summer is recommended, e.g. after the introduction of a natural or artificial swarm or when forming offshoots. The treatment in spring/summer must be carried out at times of day when the bees are not flying out. This is the only way to achieve sufficient effectiveness.

Preparation of the ready-to-use 3.0 % (m/V) oxalic acid dihydrate spray solution.
Only drinking water of hardness range I (0 - 7° dH) or distilled water should be used to prepare the oxalic acid dihydrate spray solution. Add the required amount of water:
- 200 ml for the 500 ml bottle with 230 ml concentrate, ready-to-use solution = 430 ml
- 400 ml for the 1 liter bottle with 460 ml concentrate, ready-to-use solution = 860 ml
Close the container and shake well. The solution is now ready for use.

How to use
Use a spray bottle or similar tool to apply the ready-to-use spray solution.
The recommended dose in relation to the honeycomb area is 0.3 - 0.4 ml/dm². For the most commonly used hive types, this corresponds to the following quantities of ready-to-use oxalic acid dihydrate spray solution:

The dose should be reduced by 50 % for a comb that is only half full. Artificial swarms in clusters are sprayed with 20-25 ml of the ready-to-use solution per kg of bee mass.

A maximum of 100 ml of the ready-to-use oxalic acid dihydrate spray solution should be applied per hive.

For an exact dosage, spray 10 pump strokes into a measuring cup using the spray bottle and calculate the quantity per pump stroke. Then calculate the number of pumps required to treat one side of the comb.

The mite infestation lasts up to 3 weeks.

Honey producers should note that certain quality requirements for honey only allow a limited acidity and no taste or odor deviations. It is therefore recommended to carry out the treatment of economic colonies without attached honey chambers or to carry out the treatment after the honey harvest. Do not spray on combs that will be used for honey production in the current year.

Special warnings

Oxalic acid cannot penetrate wax and therefore does not kill the mites in the capped brood. The surviving mites can then quickly form a relevant Varroa population again. This veterinary medicinal product should therefore be used for treatment in the brood-free period in fall/winter or in young colonies without brood (offshoots, (artificial) swarms).

All bee colonies in an apiary should be treated at the same time to prevent reinfection by untreated colonies.

The veterinary medicinal product should be used as part of an integrated Varroa control program with regular monitoring of the mite infestation.

Special precautions for use

Special precautions for safe use on the target species: In order to achieve an effect against the Varroa mite during spray treatment, the infested bees must be wetted with the oxalic acid. Times of increased flight activity, when only some of the bees can be found on the combs, are less suitable for treatment with oxalic acid. Particular care should therefore be taken during spring/summer treatment to ensure that the treatment is carried out at times of day when the bees are not flying out. In the fall and winter, it can be assumed that the overall flight activity is very reduced and the bees are mainly reached with the spray treatment.

The veterinary medicinal product should not be used at temperatures below 4 °C.

Special precautions for the user: This veterinary medicinal product irritates the skin, eyes and mucous membranes. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and mucous membranes, accidental ingestion and inhalation of the spray mist. When handling the veterinary medicinal product, the user should therefore wear protective equipment consisting of clothing that covers the body as well as protective goggles, chemical-resistant protective gloves and a respiratory mask (FFP2).

The ready-to-use oxalic acid dihydrate sugar solution may be particularly attractive to children due to its sugar content. Ensure that children do not have access to the product or the ready-to-use solution at any time.

If accidentally ingested, rinse mouth with water and drink plenty of water. Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical advice immediately and show the package leaflet or label.

In case of accidental exposure to the skin or eyes, rinse immediately with clean, running water for 10 minutes. If skin or eye irritation persists, seek medical advice and show the package leaflet or label. In the event of spillage of large quantities of the veterinary medicinal product, contaminated clothing or protective equipment should be removed.

In the event of accidental inhalation, seek medical advice immediately and show the package leaflet or label.

Always wash hands with water immediately after use.

Persons with known hypersensitivity to oxalic acid should use the veterinary medicinal product with caution.

Special precautions for the disposal of unused veterinary medicinal products
or waste generated during use

Unused veterinary medicinal products should preferably be disposed of at hazardous waste collection points. If disposed of together with household waste, it must be ensured that this waste cannot be misused. Veterinary medicinal products must not be disposed of with waste water or via the sewage system.
