Apiguard, 25 % gel for application in the beehive.

Pack size:
Tray with 50 g gel for application in the beehive.

Target species:
Honey bee (Apis mellifera).

Indications:
For the treatment of varroosis caused by Varroa destructor in honey bees.

Method of application:
Treatment in the beehive: Two applications at intervals of two weeks with 50 g gel per colony.
Maximum two treatments per year.
Open the beehive. Remove the cover film from the tray except for one corner. Place the open tray with the gel side up on the center of the frames.
Make sure that there is at least 0.5 cm of free space between the edge of the tray and the cover of the hive. Close the hive. After two weeks, replace the old tray with a new one in the same way. Leave the veterinary medicine with the bees until the tray is empty. Remove the veterinary medicine before putting on the honey chamber.
The efficacy of the veterinary medicine is greater if it is applied in late summer after the Honey Harvest when the brood is diminishing. However, in the case of severe parasite infestation, the veterinary medicinal product can also be applied in spring at temperatures above 15°C.
Due to the method of application, the effectiveness may vary between individual bee colonies.
The veterinary medicinal product should therefore be used as one component of an integrated pest control program and the mite infestation should be monitored regularly. If a significant mite infestation is still observed in the following winter or spring, an additional winter or spring treatment against Varroa is recommended.

Honey: 0 days. Do not use during the harvest.

Special warnings for each target species:
The approved dosing schedule must be strictly adhered to. Improper use may have a harmful effect on the bee colony.

Special precautions for use in animals:
The veterinary medicinal product must not be administered during the honey harvest in order not to impair the taste of the honey.
Do not use the veterinary medicinal product if maximum daily temperatures below 15°C or above 40°C are expected during treatment or if the activity of the bee colony is very low.

Special precautions for the user:
Avoid direct skin and eye contact due to possible contact dermatitis and skin and eye irritation.
Wear impervious gloves and usual protective equipment during administration of the veterinary medicinal product.
Wash hands and any material that has come into contact with the gel with soap and water after administration.
In case of contact with skin, wash the affected area thoroughly with soap and water.
In case of eye contact, rinse eyes with plenty of clean running water and seek medical advice immediately.
Do not inhale.

Overdose (symptoms, emergency procedures, antidotes):
A higher dose than recommended (50 g gel per application, equivalent to 12.5 g thymol) may have a disturbing effect on the behavior of the bee colony (restlessness, flight or increased mortality rate). In the event of an overdose, remove the excess veterinary medicinal product from the hive.

Special storage conditions:
Keep the medicinal product out of the reach of children.
Do not store at temperatures above 30°C.
Do not freeze.
Store in the original sealed packaging. Protect from direct sunlight.
Do not store the veterinary medicinal product near pesticides or other chemical substances that could contaminate the veterinary medicinal product.
Do not store near food.
