Assembly and Installation:

Please refer to the second image for the correct assembly and order of the individual parts.

The size of the entrance hole is adjusted using a small dial:

• 11 mm: Targets large hornets (Vespa mandarina) and all insects smaller than this diameter (not very selective).
• 10 mm: Targets Vespa orientalis and all hornets smaller than this size.
• 9 mm: Targets Vespa velutina queens and workers for the spring trap.
• 8 mm: Targets Vespa velutina workers for the summer and fall traps.

Since this trap can have an impact on the entomofauna despite its selectivity, it is recommended to use it only at the most favorable times and to carefully monitor the captured insects.

Hang the trap to keep it isolated from crawling insects.

Trapping periods:

Ø From February to May: Trapping founder queens.

• At apiaries that were heavily affected the previous year: The ideal bait consists of sugar, honey, emetics, or even jam... The following mixture has also proven effective: (1/3 beer – 1/3 white wine – 1/3 syrup)

Ø From July to November:

• At hives that have been attacked: In the fall, during the breeding season, hornets are searching for protein; place a generous amount of meat or fish scraps mixed with honey in the trap... Try the “recipe” that works best in your region

We recommend Item 73606 as bait.

Don’t hesitate to lay out a large amount of bait so that the scents spread more effectively. Leave the hornet carcasses where they are. Replace the bait every 8 to 10 days to keep the scent fresh.

Precautions for use:

• Do not open the trap in the presence of live insects without protection: Freeze the trap for 1 hour or submerge it in water to avoid any risk.
• Check your traps regularly to optimize their placement and the type of bait used.
• Remove or relocate traps that catch a large number of insects other than hornets.
• The use of insecticides mixed with the bait is strictly prohibited.
