The Nassenheider Universal "R" evaporator in the patented 394 x 223 mm frame has six support surfaces, one on each end like a frame and two additional support surfaces on each long side. This means that the evaporator can be used in all hives that are German standard size or larger. It is replaced with a frame (construction frame) at the edge. When used in hives larger than DN, two side tabs rest on the hive and the opposite tabs rest on the next frame.
