Frankenbeute complete hive with flat bottom, Zander

Product information

This polystyrene magazine hive, consisting of a flat bottom, three full frames for Zander size and a lid of your choice*, offers you the possibility of cold building beekeeping with Zander size frames. We also offer a large product range of accessories and other parts for this hive: Different bottoms, hive colors and tops as well as, for example, Bee Escapes and intermediate bottoms.

The Frankenbeute® complete system

The Frankenbeute® complete system is characterized by the fact that different frame dimensions can be used with a uniform external dimension. This is made possible by the different wall thicknesses of the frames depending on the frame size. The Frankenbeute complete system has suitable frames for 12 frames German standard size (DN), 10 frames Zander, 11 frames Langstroth, 11 frames Dadant US or 11 frames Dadant Blatt and thus the right frame size for every beekeeping business. All Frankenbeute frames are fully compatible with each other thanks to the high-quality workmanship, and this also applies to our Frankenbeute Wooden Hive frames.

*You have the option of choosing between a lid without a feed recess and a lid with a feed recess.

Hartpor Styropor®

Hartpor Styropor® or simply Hartstyropor® is a plastic that is ideal for the production of beehives due to its versatile properties.

Material properties

  • light and stable: for easy handling and joint-friendly beekeeping
  • Weather-resistant: durable and stable in all weather conditions
  • insulating: the insulating properties of the material protect the interior from external weather influences and help the bees to maintain the temperature of the beehive
  • HBCD-free: our polystyrene is free from HBCD, a flame-retardant additive that is considered harmful to health

Worth knowing

Hive parts made of Hartpor Styropor® shrink by up to one percent within the first year after production. With an external dimension of 50 cm, this corresponds to half a centimeter. The majority of the shrinkage process takes place in our warehouse, but is not yet fully completed on delivery. Frames with "fresh" frames therefore have more contact surface than older frames. Our sturdy ventilation grilles with a material thickness of one millimeter are carefully glued in place with hot glue before delivery. Nevertheless, it is possible that the ventilation grilles may come loose due to the tension caused by the shrinking process and depending on use. We recommend using a hot glue gun with the appropriate hot glue or our ApiDana® hive glue to reattach the ventilation grilles.

Care

To protect the durable material even better and prevent light from penetrating in strong sunlight, we recommend painting all parts of the hive. You can use our Beehive Paint for Styropor® hives for this.

Repair

If a polystyrene hive is damaged, e.g. by storms or everyday beekeeping practice, you can simply repair it with our repair products for polystyrene® hives.
