Combihive
The Combihive is made of hard foamed Styrofoam®. With a uniform external frame size of 54 x 45 cm, only the internal dimensions differ, depending on the frame size. There are frames suitable for 13 DN frames, 10 Zander frames, 10 Langstroth frames, 10 Dadant brood frames or 9 Dadant honey frames. The frames are seamless and are supplied in parts for self-assembly with tongue and groove. The outer dimensions of the bottom are 60 x 51.5 cm.
Our hives are free of HBCD, a flame-retardant additive known from the construction industry, and are manufactured in Lower Saxony, Germany.
Did you already know?
Styropor® hives shrink by up to one percent within the first year of production. With an external dimension of 50 cm, this corresponds to half a centimeter. The majority of this process takes place in our warehouse, but is not yet fully completed on delivery. Frames with "fresh" frames therefore have less bearing surface than older frames and grids in the bottoms can come loose under tension.
Ventilation grilles in Styropor® floors
The ventilation grilles in the shelves are carefully glued in with hot glue before delivery. We only use sturdy grilles made of 1 mm thick aluminum. Due to shrinkage processes and depending on use, ventilation grilles can become loose from time to time. To reattach them, we recommend using hot glue with a hot glue gun or ApiNord hive glue, Art. 2128. Please adapt the operating resources to the use, thank you.
