The ApiDana® queen marking paint in a 5 ml bottle is a water-based special paint for marking queen bees in the common annual colors. With the handy bottle, you can quickly place a clearly visible color dot on the thorax of your queen to make it easier to find her in the colony and keep an eye on her age.

After securing the queen, the paint is applied sparingly to the thorax with the integrated brush and dries quickly. This allows the marked comb to be quickly put back into the hive without unnecessarily disturbing the queen or the colony.

1. preparation

  • Shake the bottle well so that the drawing varnish is evenly distributed.
  • Prepare all required drawing tools (e.g. drawing tube, net, clip).

2. secure the queen

  • Carefully remove the comb with the queen from the hive and set it down safely.
  • Gently secure the queen with the drawing tool or net - make sure that she is not squashed.

3. place the color dot

  • Remove the integrated brush from the bottle and wipe off any excess paint from the edge of the bottle.
  • Place a small dot of color on the thorax of the queen.

4. allow to dry

  • Wait a few seconds until the dot of paint looks matt and no longer shiny.
  • Then remove the queen from the drawing instrument.

5. hang the comb back and store

  • Carefully hang the honeycomb with the drawn queen back into the hive.
  • Close the bottle tightly and store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
