Product description

The Asian hornet, Vespa velutina, can pose a real threat to our native bee colonies. To protect our colonies from these bee hunters, the Imgut^® Velutina barrier "slotted hole" can be installed directly in front of the entrance hole of the Liebig raised floor. This prevents the Asian hornet from entering and effectively protects the bee colony.

Application note

When using Velutina barriers, please bear in mind that drones cannot escape from the beehive due to their size. We therefore recommend using these barriers only after the end of the drone battle in late summer or fall.

In order for the Velutina barrier to protect the bee colony, the hole diameter or hole dimensions must be selected so that Asian hornets cannot pass through. This can lead to bees with pollen panties losing these pollen panties when climbing through the Velutina barrier - and thus not being able to bring in any pollen. We therefore recommend regular checks when using Velutina barriers.
