Brother ADAM, real name ADAM KEHRLE, born on August 3, 1898 in Biberach/Riss, managed the large-scale apiary and breeding station of the Benedictine abbey of BUCKFAST/Devon on the edge of the DARTMOORES in southwest England from 1919. Brother ADAM carried out his extensive crossbreeding experiments in his own apiary in the middle of Dartmoor. The exploratory trips that Brother ADAM undertook in the service of beekeeping between 1959 and 1977 formed the basis for his successful breeding attempts. Brother ADAM himself described the experiences he wrote down in this book as a stairway to success in beekeeping.
