The Apishold Transparent inner cover Aktiv is a breathable specialty film that wicks moisture away from the hive while keeping it warm. Standard, impermeable films tend to trap moisture, thereby promoting mold growth and creating an unfavorable hive environment.

Thanks to its breathable properties, the Apishold Transparent inner cover Aktiv allows excess moisture to slowly escape upward. This keeps the air inside the hive drier, reduces the risk of mold growth, and maintains a more stable microclimate for the brood and bees.

Yes, the film is specifically designed for use with the Apishold reflective fleece. The reflective fleece rests directly on top of the film and significantly improves thermal insulation, which is particularly beneficial in spring, fall, and winter.

The Apishold Transparent inner cover Aktiv is available in versions for Segeberger, Liebig, Franconian Hive, Dadant, and other common box hive types. When ordering, simply select the version that matches your hive system and frame size.

Thanks to its special non-stick coating, propolis and wax adhere significantly less to the film. In practice, it usually doesn’t need to be cleaned at all. If necessary, simply and carefully peel off any coarse residue or gently wipe the film at room temperature without using harsh cleaners.

Quick Guide – Apishold® Transparent inner cover

1. Preparation

  • Open the hive and remove the existing Crown board or old plastic sheet.
  • Align the top bar of the frame so it’s flush, and roughly remove any wax residue.

2. Apply the film

  • Spread outthe Apishold Transparent inner cover Aktiv flat and place it directly on the frame top bars without any wrinkles.
  • Make sure the film lies flat against the inner walls of the hive frame.

3. Combination with reflective fleece

  • PlaceApishold Reflective Fleece directly on top of the film.
  • Place the outer lid on as usual and reseal the hive.

4. Operation and Monitoring

  • Regularly observe the colony from above through the crystal-clear film without opening the hive.
  • When inspecting, carefully lift the film and lay it back down flat.

5. Care and Storage

  • Do not crease the film and protect it from sharp edges.
  • When not in use, store flat and do not keep in direct sunlight or near strong heat sources.
