The Mini Plus Styropor® Universal Bottom Board Extension “Flat Bottom” is a precisely fitting extension for the Mini Plus universal bottom in the Styropor system. It features a flat entrance opening and a large alighting board modeled after the Segeberg Hive.

The extension simply snaps onto the front or back of the Mini Plus universal bottom, creating a flat, easily accessible entry area for your bees. This allows the Mini Plus system to be flexibly adapted to your preferred entrance style.

It is specifically designed for the Mini Plus Styrofoam universal bottom and simply clips onto the front or back of the base.

The flat bottom design is modeled after the Segeberg Hive and offers a flat, easily visible landing area with smooth flight operations.

The large alighting board makes it easier for bees to land safely and helps young bees and weaker nuclei in particular to quickly find the Entrance.

The attachment is secured to the Mini Plus universal bottom as a plug-in module and can be swapped out for other attachments without General Tools.

1. Preparation

  • Clean the universal bottom and place it on a level, dry surface.
  • Check that all snap-fit connections are clean and free of damage.

2. Position the extension

  • Align the flat bottom extension with the desired side of the Mini Plus universal bottom.
  • Make sure the flight hole opening faces forward and the alighting board remains unobstructed.

3. Attach the extension

  • Slide the attachment on evenly until it sits flush with the universal bottom and is free of play.
  • Briefly check the fit to ensure no gaps form later that the bees could escape through.

4. Set up at the hive site

  • Position the hive so that the alighting board is easily accessible and free of obstacles.
  • If possible, choose a quiet flight path without tall grass or bushes directly in the way.

5. Monitoring During Operation

  • Regularly check the entrance and the alighting board for propolis, dead bees, or debris.
  • If necessary, remove the hive attachment, clean it carefully, and reattach it.
