The system is suitable for small to medium-sized beekeeping operations that wish to regularly cast ZaDant Beeswax Foundations from their own wax and prioritize a closed wax cycle.

The Beeswax Foundations may be slightly uneven and somewhat thicker in places. This is completely normal for a foundation-casting machine and falls within the usual range; the bees will build out such Beeswax Foundations without any problems.

Use only clean, clarified Beeswax, ideally from your own wax cycle or uncapped wax. Other types of wax or mixtures are not suitable.

The water cooling system should be opened only slightly to ensure gentle water circulation. In practice, the setting is correct when the poured Beeswax Foundation solidifies after about 30 seconds and can be removed cleanly.

No, the flexible silicone rubber sheets are designed so that the Beeswax Foundations can be removed without solvents. Simply moistening the edges of the sheets with lime-free water is sufficient.

After use, remove any remaining wax from the wax collection tray, clean the unit with warm water, and let it dry thoroughly. Store the silicone plates and stainless steel parts in a dry, frost-free place to ensure the unit continues to function reliably for many years.

Quick Start Guide for the SIPA ZaDant Foundation Casting Machine

1. Setup and Connection

  • Place the casting machine on a stable, level, and heat-resistant work surface near a water supply.
  • Lay the water hose so it won’t cause tripping hazards and connect it to the Gardena hose connection with a ball valve.
  • Check that the hinges and latches move freely.

2. Preparation

  • Heat the purified Beeswax in a double boiler to approximately 70 to 75 °C; do not boil.
  • If necessary, coat the wax collection tray and metal parts with a little dish soap solution.
  • Lightly moisten the edges of the silicone sheets with lime-free water.

3. Pouring the Beeswax Foundations

  • Open the top section and pour the liquid wax onto the lower mold plate using a ladle.
  • Spread the wax evenly, then close the top section using the handle and apply light pressure.
  • Allow excess wax to drain into the wax collection tray at the front.

4. Adjust the cooling

  • Open the ball valve of the water cooling system just enough to allow for steady water circulation.
  • Adjust the cooling so that the Beeswax Foundations solidify after about 30 seconds.
  • If the Beeswax Foundations are too thick or too thin, adjust the pouring volume and contact pressure.

5. Removal and Finishing

  • Open the mold using the handle and carefully loosen the center wall at one corner; if necessary, use a blunt spatula to help.
  • Place the Beeswax Foundations individually on a flat surface and allow them to crystallize completely.
  • After casting, turn off the cooling system, empty the heat exchanger and wax collection tray, and clean the equipment with warm water.
