The SIPA® Foundation Beeswax Foundation Machine (German Standard Size, DNM) is a mechanical, water-cooled Beeswax Foundation Machine made of Edelstahl Rostfrei® (stainless steel), which allows you to produce precise Beeswax Foundations in the DNM size of 350 x 200 mm yourself. It is ideal for beekeepers who want to process their own high-quality wax and reduce their reliance on purchased Beeswax Foundations. The integrated water cooling at the top and bottom ensures consistent casting conditions and facilitates repeatable casting results.

The system uses two precision silicone rubber mold plates into which the liquid wax is poured and solidifies through cooling. Excess wax flows into the front wax collection tray and can easily be returned to the melting vessel.

Please note: With a Beeswax Foundation Machine, the casting results cannot be fully compared to industrially rolled Beeswax Foundations. It is normal for the cast Beeswax Foundations to be somewhat uneven and, in some places, slightly thicker. This is within the normal range and is perfectly suitable for beekeeping practice.

The SIPA DNM foundation casting machine is particularly well-suited for hobby and part-time beekeepers who want to close their wax cycle and produce German Standard (DNM) Beeswax Foundations from their own Beeswax.

The Beeswax Foundations may be slightly uneven and somewhat thicker in places. This is completely normal for a foundation-casting machine and falls within the usual range; the bees will build out such Beeswax Foundations without any problems.

The system is supplied with cooling water via a water connection, which circulates through the mold plates at the top and bottom. This allows the liquid wax to cool evenly, causing the foundation to solidify quickly and making it easier to remove from the mold.

No, the casting results are naturally somewhat more uneven than industrially rolled Beeswax Foundations and may be slightly thicker in places. This is normal, falls within the usual range, and does not affect their practical usability in the beehive.

Well-clarified homemade wax or uncapped wax, gently heated in a water bath to about 75 °C, works best. Clean, undisturbed wax reduces air pockets and ensures smooth, stable Beeswax Foundations.

After casting, you should empty the system, remove wax residue from the drip tray, and clean the metal parts with warm water. Avoid using sharp or pointed tools on the silicone rubber plates, and store the casting system in a dry, frost-free place.

Quick Guide – SIPA® Beeswax Foundation Machine, German Standard Size (DNM)

1. Setup

  • Place the unit on a stable, level, and heat-resistant work surface near a water supply.
  • Lay the water hose so that it does not pose a tripping hazard.
  • Position the machine so that the wax collection tray at the front is easily accessible.

2. Prepare the Water Connection & Cooling

  • Close the casting unit and connect the water supply to the water line using the ball valve.
  • Open the valve just enough to allow for a gentle, steady flow of water.
  • Make sure the wax collection tray fills with water and water flows out of the drain, then slightly adjust the valve again.

3. Prepare the wax

  • Heat the Beeswax in a double boiler to about 75 °C; do not let it boil.
  • Clarify the wax if necessary and remove any impurities.
  • Have a suitable ladle or scoop ready.

4. Pouring process

  • Open the top of the pouring station using the handle.
  • Pour the liquid wax onto the lower mold plate using the ladle and spread it evenly.
  • Close the top lid with a little pressure so that the center wall reaches the desired thickness.
  • Excess wax flows out the front into the wax collection tray.
  • Adjust the cooling so that the center wall solidifies in about 30 seconds and can be easily removed.
  • Reopen the mold using the handle, carefully loosen the center wall, and peel it off at one corner, then lay it flat on a level surface.

5. After Pouring & Cleaning

  • Regularly remove excess wax from the wax collection tray and return it to the melting pot.
  • After pouring, empty the heat exchanger and the wax collection tray.
  • Check the system for damage, ensure the hinges move smoothly, and verify that the water connection is secure.
  • Remove wax residue from silicone rubber sheets only with a blunt spatula; do not use sharp General Tools.
  • Store the unit in a dry, frost-free location.

  • Inspect the device for damage before and after each use! Check that the hinges move freely; they should not catch or be blocked by wax.
