Product Description

The ApiSina® evaporator is a compact evaporator for formic acid and acetic acid and was developed specifically for the needs of beekeeping. Thanks to its wet foam reservoir block and adjustable evaporation surface, it enables controlled and beekeeper-friendly acid release.

With its flat plastic housing and colorful design—featuring green wet foam, a purple base, and a white rotating disc—the evaporator fits into many hive systems and can be easily placed on or above the bee seat.

Function

The ApiSina evaporator is filled with the desired acid (for example, formic acid for Varroa control or acetic acid for comb protection). The wet foam reservoir absorbs the liquid and releases it evenly into the air inside the hive or comb tower via the adjustable evaporation surface. This allows the evaporation rate to be adjusted according to temperature, colony size, and intended use.

Quick Guide to the ApiSina® Evaporator

1. Preparation

  • Have the evaporator and the required acid ready.
  • Put on appropriate protective gloves and safety goggles.
  • Prepare the bee colony or honeycomb tower for treatment.

2. Filling

  • Remove the top section to expose the wet foam storage block.
  • Measure out the required amount of acid using a measuring cup (follow the dosage instructions on the acid’s label).
  • Slowly pour the acid onto the storage block until it is evenly saturated, taking care not to let it overflow.

3. Placement

  • Close the evaporator and place it in the hive, for example, above the bee cluster in an empty frame or a lid opening.
  • Make sure the evaporator is stable and level.

4. Adjustment and Monitoring

  • Use the white dial to initially set the evaporation area to a small size.
  • Observe the colony’s reaction and weather conditions, then gradually increase the opening as needed.
  • Check the acid level and the bees’ behavior regularly during use.

5. After Use

  • At the end of the treatment period, remove the evaporator and safely dispose of any remaining acid.
  • Thoroughly clean the evaporator with water; replace the reservoir block if necessary.
  • Store the device in a dry place and keep it out of the reach of children.
