Wax Processing

Melting beeswax: Pots with handles and a spout are particularly well-suited for heating beeswax. Double-walled pots filled with water are also ideal: for example, an aluminum wax-pouring pot or a stainless steel wax-pouring pot. This gently heats the wax until it becomes liquid. The temperature should be between 72°C and 75°C. Higher temperatures can lead to bubble formation and deformation of the candles as they cool after pouring. The most beautiful candles are made with pure or clarified Beeswax.

Pouring the beeswax: The liquid beeswax should be poured slowly and in one continuous stream into the mold until it reaches the top edge. You can add more beeswax just a few seconds later without creating visible layers. To prevent cracks in the wax, allow it to cool at room temperature. Depending on the size and shape of the candle, this process can take several hours. It is especially important for candles with delicate decorations to allow the wax to harden completely.

Trimming the wick: After the wax has hardened, trim the wick flush with the bottom and shorten it to about 1 cm at the top. To prevent the wick from fraying and to ensure it burns better when lit, you can also dip the tip in wax.

Wick Sizes

The wick size depends, on the one hand, on the size and shape of the candle and, on the other hand, on the type and purity of the wax. A thin candle should always have a thin wick; otherwise, the candle will burn down too quickly or produce a lot of soot. A thick candle, on the other hand, requires a thick wick so that the larger flame burns evenly. Otherwise, only the wax in the center will burn away, while a rim remains, and the flame will die out after a while.

Before making a large batch of candles, you should determine the appropriate wick by conducting a burn test.

We recommend the following guidelines when using pure Beeswax:

Care Instructions

Candle molds should be cleaned of wax residue after use and whenever imperfections appear on the candle’s surface. With new or previously used molds, an oily film may form on the mold surface due to the release agents and silicone oils used in production; this film should be removed.

To clean the mold, first rinse it with warm water and a little dish soap. The outside can be wiped clean with a damp cloth, while the inside can be cleaned with a soft toothbrush. After rinsing with water, the mold can be dried either with a lint-free cloth or by air-drying.

The candle mold must be completely dry on the inside before use. Water droplets can cause imperfections on the cast candle.

Storage Instructions

Candle molds should always be stored in such a way that they cannot warp. We recommend storing the molds on a flat surface and not stacking them on top of one another. Flat molds should be stored lying flat, while round molds should be stored upright. An exception to this are long molds for Taper Candles, which can be carefully stored lying flat. To prevent dust from accumulating on the mold, it can be wrapped in plastic wrap. To completely prevent warping, the wax from the last pour can remain in the mold during storage.

The mold should be stored in a cool, dry place.
