Matthias Engel, born in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in 1988, studied organic farming, history and philosophy. He has been breeding honey bees since 2004. The emphasis is on breeding, because this work interested him from the very beginning.

The desire to use drone lines from his own stock to mate the queens finally led him to artificial insemination in 2012. Initial failures in learning this craft did not stop him from expanding and refining his knowledge and skills. He is now a sought-after expert in this field and is happy to pass on his knowledge in articles, lectures and courses.
