Product Description

The SIPA® swarm trap is a lightweight plastic swarm-catching box with a capacity for up to five Frames. As a decoy hive for swarming bees, it helps you catch a swarm easily and gently and bring it to your apiary. The robust PP housing, reinforced with 15% glass fiber, is weather-resistant, sturdy, and yet easy to carry—ideal for swarm catch during the peak swarming season.

The swarm trap is delivered as a kit for self-assembly. The adjustable rail system accommodates different frame sizes, the Entrance can be adjusted using a slider, and the box can be secured to trees or posts with hooks and a strap.

Die Sipa Schwarmfalle nimmt über Auflageschienen, verstellbar bis 40 cm, gängige Maße wie DNM, Zander, Langstroth, Dadant Blatt und US auf. So kann mit einer einzigen Schwarmfalle verschiedener Schwarmfang von Schwarm Bienen abgedeckt werden.

Es passen fünf Rähmchen in die Schwarmfalle, dazu kommen 48 Liter freier Innenraum, in dem sich der Bienenschwarm sammeln kann.

Ja, sie kann nach dem Fang als temporarer Ablegerkasten genutzt werden, bis der Bienenschwarm in eine reguläre Beute umlogiert wird.

Die Schwarmfalle wird mit dem Edelstahlhaken eingehängt und mit dem mitgelieferten Gurt straff um Stamm oder Pfosten gesichert, damit beim Schwarmfang nichts verrutscht.

Ein Schwarmlockmittel ist nicht zwingend nötig, erhöht aber zusammen mit ausgebauten Waben deutlich die Chance, dass Spurbienen die Schwarmfalle für den Schwarm Bienen annehmen.

Quick Guide – SIPA® Swarm Trap

1. Preparation

  • Unpack theSIPA® Swarm Trap’s packaging and kit components and inspect them thoroughly.
  • Lay out the housing, rails, hanging hooks, strap, and Entrance Guard.

2. Assembly

  • Insert the rails into the designated guides in the housing.
  • Install the adjustable Entrance Guard and check that it moves smoothly.
  • Secure the lid and base properly and check all locking points.

3. Placement

  • Choose a suitable location at a height of approximately 1.5 to 4 meters near the apiary.
  • Hang the swarm trap using the stainless steel hook and secure it tightly around a tree trunk or post with the strap.
  • Align the entrance with the expected direction of the swarm’s flight.

4. Preparing for the Swarm Catch

  • Insert 3–5 frames with built-out comb or Beeswax Foundations.
  • Prepare the interior with a little Beeswax or Swarm Lure.
  • Adjust the entrance to a small opening so that the swarm can enter safely.

5. After catching the swarm

  • After the swarm has settled in, close the Entrance in the evening when flight activity is calm.
  • Carefully remove the swarm trap, carry it upright, and transport it to its final location.
  • Transfer the swarm to a prepared hive of the appropriate size and gently rehang the Frames.
