Beehive protection
Did you already know?
Trapped wasps call their comrades for help. However, wasps that have found an interesting food source do not tell their comrades, but fly intensively at short intervals to exploit this food source.
To lure wasps away, other interesting food sources, such as ripe fruit, sliced grapes or plums, can be placed 20-30 meters away to distract them. The wasp then reorients itself and flies to this new food source.
"The Federal Nature Conservation Act (BNatSchG) § 39 prohibits the willful disturbing, trapping, injuring or killing of wild animals without reasonable cause. This means that setting up wasp traps is only permitted if there is a reasonable reason. So if you want to put up wasp traps, you should make sure that this is done for a reasonable reason, for example to protect against health risks from wasp stings, especially if allergies exist. In other words, protection against health risks from wasp stings is a reasonable reason under the law. When and whether there is a health risk is therefore at the discretion of the observer."
