Kenian Top Bar Hive
The top bar hive is also known as the Kenyan Top Bar Hive (KTBH) or top support hive. Instead of frames and center walls, movable honeycomb strips are used for natural construction. As with the Kiel mating box, sloping walls prevent the combs from being blocked. Made from untreated solid wood up to 28 mm thick, the Kenian Top Bar Hives from Bieno®Natura are knot-free, solidly glued and screwed.
They are supplied with honeycomb slats and spacers. Base with stainless steel ventilation grille, varroa diaper that can be pulled out to the rear, rear working flap and flight holes with mouse protection. Solid wooden lid plus additional sheet metal lid as weather protection.
All hives and hive parts are in stock and available at short notice.
The hives and hive parts are delivered without a coat of paint

Did you already know?
We only use untreated solid wood with all its natural properties and characteristics. The weather in the form of sun, rain and cold as well as fluctuating humidity affects all dried and sawn wood if it is not protected.
Our tip:
Paint the hives up to three times, roughening the surface with sandpaper between coats. Then refresh periodically depending on the condition and personal preference.
After the bees have moved in, the hives develop their own room climate. The temperature and humidity inside the hive differs from the climate outside. As a result, condensation can form under the lid, mold can form and the hive parts can crack. For better air circulation, we recommend raising the hive on Bee Hive Stands and removing the Sticky Boards after the Varroa check.
