Imgut® Velutina Trap Pro

NEW to our range

Product Description

The Imgut® Velutina Trap Pro is a selective live trap designed for the targeted capture of the Asian hornet (Vespa velutina) at the apiary. The large 5-liter collection container made of transparent plastic allows for easy inspection and long-term monitoring.

The trap operates with an attractant container, an entry funnel, and a float. The hornets are safely guided into the collection container, while other insects can escape through designated openings or be released as needed.

Special Features

  • Selective design for Vespa velutina with defined entry openings
  • Transparent collection container with a volume of approximately 5 liters for easy visual inspection
  • Integrated attractant container; insects do not come into direct contact with the attractant
  • Internal float that keeps the captured insects above the liquid

Advantages

  • Bee-friendly: Bycatch can be largely avoided or the bees can be released
  • Ideal for monitoring: Very well suited for monitoring the presence and infestation pressure of the Asian hornet at the site
  • High capacity: Large container volume reduces the frequency of emptying
  • Easy to use: Quick to set up, easy to clean, made entirely of plastic
  • Highly visible: The yellow lid makes it easy to locate the trap in the apiary

Conclusion on the Imgut® Velutina Trap Pro

The Imgut® Velutina Trap Pro is a well-designed solution for beekeepers who want to protect their bee colonies from the Asian hornet while being as gentle on the environment as possible. Thanks to its selective trapping principle, large collection container, and ease of use, the trap is particularly well-suited for monitoring affected or at-risk apiary sites.

Use the Imgut® Velutina Trap Pro to detect Vespa velutina early and provide targeted protection for your bee colonies.

Holtermann’s Practical Tip: Place the Velutina Trap Pro in the hornets’ flight path if possible—that is, slightly offset to the side in front of the apiary and not directly above the Entrances. Check the trap daily, carefully remove any bycatch, and replenish the attractant regularly to ensure the trap remains highly effective over the long term.
