The SIPA Zander Foundation Casting Machine is a water-cooled , stainless-steel foundation casting machine featuring precise silicone rubber embossing surfaces in the Zander size of 395 x 195 mm. It is ideal for beekeepers who want to establish their own wax cycle and produce high-quality Beeswax Foundations from their own wax. The machine combines robust construction with convenient handling.

During the casting process, liquid Beeswax is poured onto the lower mold plate and, when the lid is closed, pressed into a precisely embossed Beeswax Foundation sheet in Zander dimensions. Water cooling above and below the molds ensures rapid solidification; the excess wax flows forward into a collection tray and can be returned to the wax melter.

Place the freshly cast Beeswax Foundations individually and flat on a cool, level surface so they don’t warp and crystallize properly. Afterward, you can store the hardened Beeswax Foundations in a suitable beekeeping box.

It is suitable for beekeepers who want to establish their own wax cycle and cast Zander-sized Beeswax Foundations from their own wax. It is particularly useful for small and medium-sized apiaries.

The Beeswax Foundations may be slightly uneven and somewhat thicker in places. This is completely normal for a foundation-casting machine and falls within the usual range; the bees will build out such Beeswax Foundations without any problems.

Liquid wax has proven effective at around 75 °C, ensuring it flows well and the cells are cleanly formed. The wax must not boil, as this can cause it to become brittle.

For a clean result, a Steam Wax Extractor for melting the wax and a wax clarifier for cleaning it are highly recommended. Heat-resistant gloves increase safety when working with hot wax.

The silicone rubber sheets are very durable and do not require a release agent. Use only blunt spatulas without sharp edges, and clean the metal parts with a little dish soap solution before starting work so that the Beeswax Foundations come off more easily.

Quick Guide – SIPA Zander Foundation Casting Machine

1. Setup

  • Place the unit on a stable, level, and heat-resistant work surface near a water source.
  • Lay the water hose so it won’t cause tripping hazards and connect it securely.
  • Check that the casting machine is sitting completely level.

2. Prepare the Water Connection and Cooling System

  • Connect the water supply to the pipe.
  • Open the ball valve just enough to allow for a gentle, steady flow of water.
  • Allow the wax collection tray to fill with water until water flows out of the drain, then close the valve again.

3. Prepare the wax

  • Melt the wax in a Steam Wax Extractor or double boiler; do not let it boil.
  • Temper the wax to approximately 75 °C.
  • Use clarified wax free of coarse impurities.

4. Pouring process

  • Open the top lid and use a ladle to pour the liquid wax evenly onto the lower mold plate.
  • Spread the wax lightly, then close the lid with even pressure.
  • Allow excess wax to drain into the wax collection tray at the front.
  • After a short cooling period, open the mold using the handle, carefully loosen the centerwall with a dull spatula, and peel it off at one corner.
  • Place the Beeswax Foundations flat and individually on a level surface.

5. After Casting and Cleaning

  • Regularly remove excess wax from the collection tray and return it to the melter.
  • At the end of the workday, turn off the water cooling system and drain the heat exchanger and wax collection tray using the drain screws.
  • Clean the silicone plates only with warm water and, if necessary, a mild dish soap solution; do not use sharp General Tools.
  • Store the equipment in a dry, frost-free location.

  • There is a risk of burns when working with hot wax!
  • Keep children and animals away during operation—risk of burns!
  • Inspect the device for damage before and after each use! Check that the hinges move freely; they should not catch or be blocked by wax.
