The ApiTek^® selective Velutina trap is a cost-effective do-it-yourself solution for protecting your own bee colonies from the Asian hornet, Vespa Velutina. If Asian hornets are sighted near beehives, a live trap can be quickly and easily built with the Velutina trap "top-mounted grid" using a closed container, which selectively catches the Vespa Velutina, as other insects, e.g. bees and wasps, can escape or be released again. To attract the Vespa velutina, an attractant can simply be placed in the trap.
