Herold Hive

Heroldhead.jpg

The Herold Hive is a classic among Wooden Hives. It is suitable for 12 frames of normal size in warm construction or 10 frames of Zander in cold construction and, like the Frankenbeute, offers variable use for every need. On request, the hive can also be used for beekeeping with large brood chambers in standard size 1½ or ZaDant.

Manufactured in our joinery from 30 mm thick solid wood, the frames of the Herold Hive have a stable inner rebate at the bottom measuring approx. 47.6 x 40.2 cm. This ensures a secure stand, windproofness and safety against slipping during transportation and tipping.
The outer dimensions are approx. 49.6 x 44 cm and 54.2 x 44 cm with handles.

The Herold Hive was produced for decades by the Siggemann company in Verl, among others, and was known as the ZaNo hive. In the meantime, some workshops for the disabled also produce this type of hive under the name Herold or ZaNo hive. Our Herold Hive comes from Brockel, Lower Saxony and is compatible with all these types.

All hives and hive parts are in stock and available at short notice.

The hives and hive parts are delivered without paint and frames
Suitable frames can be found here, suitable paints can be found here.

Did you already know?
We only use untreated solid wood with all its natural properties and characteristics. The weather in the form of sun, rain and cold as well as fluctuating humidity affects all dried and sawn wood if it is not protected.

Our tip:
Paint the hives up to three times, roughening the surface with sandpaper between coats. Then refresh periodically depending on the condition and personal preference.

After the bees have moved in, the hives develop their own room climate. The temperature and humidity inside the hive differs from the climate outside. As a result, condensation can form under the lid, mold can form and the hive parts can crack. For better air circulation, we recommend raising the hive on Bee Hive Stands and removing the Sticky Boards after the Varroa check.
